Atlas UP Role Descriptions
As you start using Atlas UP, it’s important to understand the different roles and what access they provide. Each role is designed to match your responsibilities, ensuring you have the right level of visibility while maintaining data privacy and security.
How Roles Are Assigned
Your role in Atlas UP is established when you are invited to the platform. The account administrator who invites you determines your initial role and has the ability to adjust it at any time through a separate admin portal. This ensures that access aligns with job functions and company policies.
Executive
As an Executive, you have full access across Atlas UP. You can view and analyze company-wide data related to employees, operations, and finances, including payroll, time off, and salaries. Your role is critical in overseeing company strategy and making informed, data-driven decisions.
Examples of questions an Executive can ask:
• Who has taken the most PTO this quarter?
• Show me a table of all Software Developers, their salaries, and tenure at the company.
• I believe Linda has a birthday coming up soon. Is she the only one?
Manager
As a Manager, you have access to key information about your direct reports while maintaining appropriate privacy controls. If you are designated as a Manager in Atlas UP, you will be able to see sensitive data (such as salaries, addresses, and job details) for yourself and your direct reports.
However, if you are a Manager in the company’s organizational structure but have the Employee role assigned in Atlas UP, you will not have access to sensitive data, even for those who report to you. This ensures that access is based on assigned role permissions, not just reporting structure.
Examples of questions a Manager can ask (with the Manager role assigned):
• What are the salaries of my direct reports?
• Show me my team’s PTO balances.
• Who on my team has upcoming work anniversaries?
Employee
As an Employee, your access is limited to your own information and general company policies. You can view details relevant to your role, such as personal records, PTO balances, and organizational guidelines. However, you will not have access to broader system queries, sensitive employee data, or managerial insights.
Examples of questions an Employee can ask:
• How much PTO have I taken this year?
• What is our sick leave policy?
• What are our company’s core values?
• When was the last time I received a raise?
Role Adjustments
If your job responsibilities change, your role in Atlas UP can be adjusted by the account administrator through the admin portal. This ensures that access remains appropriate for each user’s role within the company.
These role-based permissions ensure that every user has the right level of access—enough to perform their duties efficiently while safeguarding confidential company and employee information.
